Portable systems – These are a cost-effective solution for cooling a single room. Because they don’t require professional installation they can be installed quickly and cheaply. However one of the downsides is that they require an open window for ventilation. This means they are not practical for some applications.

Split systems – These are the most common type of systems installed in the UK. The system consists of an interior cassette connected to an outdoor compressor. Split systems are more efficient than portable systems and can be used to cool larger spaces. But they require professional installation from a qualified F-Gas engineer.

Multi-split systems – This type of system is similar to the above-mentioned split-system. The difference is that more than one cassette can be connected to the compressor, allowing multiple rooms to be cooled independently. We can install multi-split systems capable of accommodating up to nine internal cassettes.

Ducted systems – This type of system consists of an external chiller which distributes chilled air around the building using a network of ducts. These systems are the most efficient but they are the most expensive to install. You also need to ensure there is enough space for the ductwork.

One of the most respected names in air conditioning, Mitsubishi Electric were the first company to introduce the split-system back in 1954.
